Crowns and Bridges Can Make Your Smile Whole Again

Why do patients come to Valley Creek Dental for crowns and bridges? After a root canal treatment, there’s often not much healthy enamel left on a tooth. When a tooth has broken or been badly chipped, it can be both painful and embarrassing. A missing tooth in a mouth full of otherwise healthy teeth can make you cover your mouth when you smile or laugh.

These are just a few examples of how crowns and bridges can improve your dental and oral health and give you back the confidence of a full smile. If you need to have a missing, damaged, or decayed tooth restored to its previous size, shape, and function, a crown or bridge might be the solution for you, and we can prepare and install one in just two visits.

Crowns - So what are crowns, exactly? And how do they work? A crown is basically a prosthetic tooth that is created to perfectly match the shape and size of your old tooth before it was damaged. The old tooth is reshaped to be an anchor for the crown, and the crown can then take its place to look and feel just like a normal, healthy tooth.

Bridges - Bridges are much like crowns, but instead of building up a broken or otherwise damaged tooth, they can replace one or more missing teeth. If you have a missing tooth between two otherwise healthy teeth, a bridge can be made to look like three teeth sitting next to each other. It will then be anchored to the teeth on either side of the gap, and it will appear completely natural once in place.
